Rape Accused Charged

A 47-year-old male has been charged with TWO COUNTS OF RAPE.

ELVETHAN McFARLAN HANDFIELD, of Glass Shack, Providenciales, was denied bail when he appeared before a Magistrate on April 29th.

Mr Handfield will re-appear in court on June 07th,2024, for a Sufficiency Hearing.

Officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit charged Mr Handfield following a report by a female victim on April 20th, 2024.

Based on police reports, the victim entered a jitney on Friday, 19th April 2024. The driver took the victim to a residence in Glass Shack and sexually assaulted her, following which the driver dropped the victim off at a location the following day.

The victim made a report to the police, and an investigation commenced.
